The Europe Strategy Research Institute (EUstrat), founded in 2020 by Dr. Tibor Navracsics, is an independent academic think tank of the Ludovika University of Public Service (Nemzeti Közszolgálati Egyetem). It focuses on shaping Hungary’s European policies, analyzing Hungarian and European developments and addressing forward-looking questions.
The Institute's mission is to contribute to the formation of Hungary’s Europe policy at a research level. This includes supporting policy research for Hungary’s 2024 EU Presidency through policy papers, publications, and event organisation. As part of the Eötvös József Research Center, EUstrat is dedicated to the scientific analysis of political, economic, and social issues related to the European Union.
Its objectives include analysing Hungary's national strategy, enhancing the understanding European integration processes, and addressing critical topics such as the functioning of European institutions, the interplay between national sovereignty and European integration, as well as challenges in European competitiveness and cohesion policy. EUstrat collaborates closely with domestic and international academic and European institutions.
The Institute carried out research between April 1, 2012, and March 31, 2022, in Hungarian published as European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) Monitor. This platform provides a comprehensive overview of European Citizens' Initiatives in the dedicated period. The Institute remains firmly committed to the teaching and research of European policies and civic values.
