Az európai polgári kezdeményezés nagykövetei azon dolgoznak, hogy népszerűsítsék az európai polgári kezdeményezés intézményét, előmozdítsák a társadalmi vitát, és felhívják a polgárok figyelmét arra, hogy ők is tehetnek azokért az ügyekért, amelyek közel állnak a szívükhöz. A nagyköveti tevékenység önkéntes.
A nagykövetek nagyon sokféle – európai, országos és regionális szinten tevékenykedő – szervezet munkatársai, de közös bennük, hogy mindannyian jól ismerik a részvételi demokrácia területét, és céljuk, hogy ösztönözzék a polgári szerepvállalást a döntéshozatalban.
