High Commissioner Tibor Navracsics is a Hungarian politician, lawyer and an Associate Professor of political science at Eötvös Loránd University. He served as European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport at the European Commission.
Dr. Navracsics has been an active politician for over two decades, and has held several senior offices in the government. Between 2010 and 2014, Dr. Navracsics served as the Hungarian Minister of Public Administration and Justice, and in 2014 he was appointed to be the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He served as European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport and when his mandate ended, he returned to Hungary and was appointed as the High Commissioner responsible for the coordination of the Veszprém-Balaton European Capital of Culture 2023 project. He has resumed his teaching career at Eötvös Loránd University and became the director of the European Strategy Research Institute at the National University of Public Administration.
As of 1 September 2020, Dr. Navracsics is the High Commissioner for the Northwest Hungarian Economic Development Area.
