Apresentação e análise
A iniciativa «A política de coesão para a igualdade das regiões e a sustentabilidade das culturas regionais» foi apresentada à Comissão Europeia em 4 de março de 2025, após ter obtido 1 269 351 declarações de apoio devidamente verificadas. Ver notícias da Comissão Europeia.
Tal como previsto no artigo 15.º do Regulamento ICE, em 25 de março, os organizadores da iniciativa tiveram a oportunidade de apresentar ao vice-presidente executivo Raffaele Fitto e a vários funcionários da Comissão os objetivos da iniciativa, no decurso de uma reunião organizada para o efeito. Em 25 de junho de 2025, teve lugar a apresentação da iniciativa numa audiência pública no Parlamento Europeu está prevista. Os organizadores forneceram mais informações sobre os seus objetivos e os membros do Parlamento Europeu trocaram impressões sobre a iniciativa. Assistir à reunião.

Principais conclusões da comunicação da Comissão
Depois de analisar cuidadosamente as propostas dos cidadãos, a Comissão chegou à conclusão de que, embora algumas das propostas não sejam da competência da UE, uma vez que interfeririam com a atual configuração constitucional dos Estados-Membros em causa, outras já são abrangidas pelas sólidas garantias da atual política de coesão a favor da inclusão e da igualdade de tratamento das minorias, bem como do respeito pela diversidade cultural e linguística.
Por conseguinte, não será proposta nenhuma nova legislação em resposta a esta iniciativa. Todavia, a Comissão continuará a garantir um acesso não discriminatório aos financiamentos concedidos pela UE, supervisionando e apoiando as medidas tomadas pelos Estados-Membros a fim de assegurar a igualdade de tratamento na execução da política de coesão.
Para o próximo quadro financeiro plurianual, a Comissão propôs uma política de coesão e crescimento reforçada e modernizada que garanta a existência de mecanismos adequados nos Estados-Membros a fim de assegurar o cumprimento das disposições da Carta dos Direitos Fundamentais aplicáveis durante a execução dos planos de parceria nacional e regional, bem como o respeito pelos princípios do Estado de direito. Se um Estado-Membro não cumprir estas condições, a Comissão suspenderá os pagamentos correspondentes.
